Thursday, August 29th, 1985

CENTRAL COAST: Half Moon Bay rockfish trips post fair scores inshore at Montara, Pescadero and San Gregorio with 30 and 40 pound limits; longer trips to islands have sacks to 85 that include blacks, blues, widows, golden eyes; a few lings 12 to 33. Watch afternoon windchop. Monterey rockfish are blues, yellows, reds, a few small lings; sacks go 40 pounds; albacore 17 miles out, four to the rod most days - they go to 26 pounds. Pacifica stripers hold in suds for lure tossers at tide top, bait on ebb. Even beginners into bass to 36 pounds. Few salmon to 18 pounds mixed into surf action, especially good at Pacifica Pier on hot bites. Lots of bait point to continued action. Water calm early, noon winds sometimes improve surf bite when it stirs up inshore food for bait.
